Info

Simon Pasieka was born in 1967 in Kleve on the Rhine. Raised in a Catholic family, he attended the Steiner-Waldorf school which seeks to develop freedom, enthusiasm and confidence in children rather than fear and competition. He studied Fine Arts in Lower Saxony, a Protestant region, and developed a certain sensitivity for 18th and 19th century painting. He is also interested in the works of 20th century artists such as Otto Dix or Balthus as well as artistic currents such as the New Objectivity or Fluxus.

With these different cultural influences, the painter has created an art form that is unlike any other and that can be summed up in one word: fascinating.
Falsely realistic, his figurative paintings represent in fact possible worlds -but not real-, animated by characters of indefinite age, placed in situations that cannot be. Dreamlike and poetic, multiplying symbols with ambivalent meaning, they question us and upset our reference points to better immerse us in this other reality, imagined by the artist.
