Info

Marion Flament's work is built around places, materials and the light that constitutes them to translate to the scale of installation, sculpture and image. She seeks to produce fictions that present a distended reality by drawing on sudden and minute changes in visual perception that give time a dramatic quality. She organizes points of conjunction, often through the exposure of a key moment to translate a freeze frame. It is a way of revealing the strangeness of transformed time: zooming into the scenery that builds our daily lives. This is why Marion often uses trompe l'oeil and false pretenses, a link to the fictions she has encountered in theater.

Light is the vector of this distortion, having the particular faculty of revealing the state of the matter. Marion uses it to model the ordinary elements that make up our environment.

The work in situ is also one of the dimensions that she puts in place in her work, offering her the possibility to search for these tipping points. Thus, the places where she exhibits directly inspire the pieces she produces.
