Born in Madrid, Spain, in 1997. Currently working at Villa Belleville, Paris.
Javier Carro’s work stems from a keen observation of his environment, through which his oeuvre casts a critical eye on our high-definition world.His artistic practice is defined by an interweaving of various techniques, bridging craftsmanship and art. Particularly attentive to the persistence of certain archaic forms, he deliberately excludes from his technical vocabulary methods associated with “progress.” The artist develops strategies that reveal the civilizational ghosts underpinning our contemporary societies.
From ceramics to printed images and computer-assisted fabrication, Carro explores technique in both its visual and political dimensions.

“The first step in Javier Carro Temboury’s artistic practice is research.
In flea markets, through encounters or sheer chance, he initially collects mostly ceramic containers and objects. By questioning their uses and functions, bearing traces of different eras or places, these items subtly evoke the people who held, touched, or made them, as well as the very notion of effort and labor.
For the act of making, and the connection between art, craft, and industry, lies at the heart of the Spanish-born visual artist’s thinking. He wonders how, with distance, one receives and understands the culture of others, while infusing this conceptual approach with a need to activate touch and materiality.”​
